The Wisconsin Supreme Court not only chose to end the “Safer at Home” order of the Evers administration, they allowed for a situation to happen where no replacement for the order would be immediately put in place.
“That ruling creates a tremendous amount of patchwork around the state,” said Madison Democratic State Senator Jon Erpenbach to WTMJ’s John Mercure about the way municipalities now have differing coronavirus protection rules by county, and even by city.
“As a result, stuff in Dane County is closed, stuff in Milwaukee County is closed, the counties in between, not so much.”
He says businesses now find themselves in a difficult spot.
“You have to keep employees safe, and if you’re open, you have to keep customers safe. You’ll anger customers if you open. You’ll anger customers if you don’t,” he said.
“It’s kind of chaotic. I’ve talked to business owners who don’t know what to do.”
