The Governor of the State of Wisconsin is using a plan B to find ways to overcome the shortage of poll workers for the April 7 election due to fears of the coronavirus pandemic.
To try and mitigate that shortage of workers, the Governor has called out National Guard members to peacefully help work the polls in various areas, according to a federal court briefing.
“It’s a creative way to help solve the problem,” said Republican Speaker Robin Vos during a news conference Wednesday with fellow Republican Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald.
“If the National Guard does not have other duties…I certainly support using them in limited circumstances…whatever we can do to get people there.”
“I intend to work at a polling place on Election Day. My wife has volunteered at a different location,” he said, particularly reaching out to people who are unable to work due to businesses being temporarily closed.
“If you’re bored at home and you’re sick of watching Netflix, go work at the polls.”
