Almost all travel and travel-centered events have been curtailed in the wake of COVID-19 and the worldwide pandemic, and the Milwaukee tourism and convention business has experienced the toll it has taken.
The Milwaukee Business Journal, a WTMJ news partner, says that Milwaukee has seen 66 conventions or events be canceled or postponed in the wake of coronavirus.
They also report that the loss of revenue due to the halted or altered conventions and events is forcing salary cutbacks with the Wisconsin Center District, at least on a temporary basis.
41 of the events are reportedly being scheduled, though they have not necessarily been given a replacement date in every case.
There has been no word on announced changes to the Democratic National Convention, set for Milwaukee in mid-July.
