UPDATE: Our news partners at TMJ4 News are reporting that buses are being sent from MacArthur Elementary, where parents have been gathering in order to pick up their children, to Kennedy Middle School where students and staff were locked down. Germantown Police have not released any additional information, but said a press conference will occur this evening.
The Germantown School District released this statement:
GERMANTOWN – A massive police response amid reports of a shooting at Kennedy Middle School in Germantown on October 23. Germantown Police would not confirm to WTMJ if a shooting had occurred, calling it a “fluid situation.”
A caller to the WTMJ newsroom who lives near the school reported hearing multiple gunshots. No word on any injuries or who fired the shots.
WTMJ’s Jack Graue is on the scene working to get information. He reported that streets around Kennedy Middle School have been blocked off by a heavy police presence.
A staging area has been set up at McArthur Elementary in order for parents to reunite with their kids.
