ORIGNAL POST
MILWAUKEE — Newer details suggest that a winter storm expected to land in Southeast Wisconsin sometime on Thursday morning could bring between six and eight inches of snow to the area along with a mix of sleet and wind.
According to TMJ4’s Marisa Woloszyn, the snowfall will likely begin to ramp up after 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16. The areas highlighted by this Winter Storm Watch include Milwaukee, Dodge, Jefferson, Kenosha, Ozaukee, Racine, Sheboygan, Walworth, Washington and Waukesha counties. Snowfall could hit as early as 3:00 a.m., according to recent projections.
Most communities in the aforementioned counties should see more than four inches of snow. It has been suggested that a heavier band of show could accumulate in the central areas of Southeast Wisconsin as the storm rolls in from the southwest.
It’s expected that snowfall totals will drop further to the northwest corner of the state. Winds are also expected to contribute with estimates between 20-to-25-MPH from the northeast and gusts anticipated in the 35 MPH range.
A mix of sleet could impact the overall totals on Thursday and in turn, create more harsh road conditions. Be sure to keep up with WTMJ’s Debbie Lazaga during Wisconsin’s Morning News (5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.) and Wisconsin’s Afternoon News (3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.) for live traffic updates. Current projections suggest that midday, afternoon and evening commutes will be impacted the most.
Projections suggest that the sun will return to Southeast Wisconsin on Friday — though the temperature will drop with lows in the mid-teens and highs in the mid-20s. At this stage, there isn’t any more precipitation projected through the weekend, although that’s subject to change.
