WAUKESHA- Darrell Brooks has been found guilty of all charges related to the Waukesha Christmas Parade attack.
Among the 76 charges were six counts of first degree intentional homicide. Brooks also faced multiple charges of recklessly endangering safety, hit and run involving death, bail jumping, and battery.
Brooks killed six people and injured dozens of others after driving an SUV through the parade last November.
Today’s verdict was handed down after a nearly month-long trial in which jurors heard testimony from more than 70 witnesses and viewed video from the parade night.
The victims who were killed have been identified as 79-year-old Virginia Sorenson, 71 year-old Leanna Owen, 52 year-old Jane Kulich, 81 year-old Wilhelm Hospel, 52 year-old Tamara Durand, & 8 year-old Jackson Sparks.
Brooks faces six life sentences, one for each count of intentional homicide.
The prosecution, led by Waukesha County district Attorney Sue Opper, convinced the jury that Brooks, after a fight with his ex girlfriend Erika Patterson at a nearby park, drove his 2010 Ford Escape through the parade route. Brooks was arrested shortly after the attack after he was found at a nearby home.
Judge Jennifer Dorow thanked the jury for their service before adjourning court one last time at 11:22 a.m.
Brooks did not speak after the guilty verdicts were read and was escorted out of the courtroom by Waukesha Sheriff’s deputies.
Court will reconvene on Monday at which point a sentencing date will be set.
