MILWAUKEE — The vote was split 50-50: Three votes for Hoyt Mahaley and three cotes for Malik Aziz.
Mahaley is former FBI Supervisory Special Agent and former Police Officer for Milwaukee Police Department. He also attended Rufus King High School.
Mahaley was an officer in Milwaukee from 1992-1997.
Former Chief Alfonso Morales was demoted to Captain back in the summer, and Deputy Chief Michael Brunson was promoted to acting police chief. Brunson is set to retire December 23rd.
Morales has since for $625,000 in damages and filed for a judicial review of the fire and police commission’s actions.
