The Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported the highest daily total of deaths Tuesday since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The state says 92 people lost their lives within the last day. There were another 7,090 new positive cases.
As the state continues its battle with surging cases, some health experts feel good about the prospects of a potential vaccine.
“I’m more and more confident that there will be some vaccine available to the general population by the end of the first quarter in 2021,” said Dr. John Raymond, President of the Medical College of Wisconsin.
With two manufacturers already looking for FDA approval, Dr. Raymond says that total could double within the next month.
“I would take whatever vaccine comes here first,” he said. “I believe they’re all going to be relatively safe and more effective than we could have even dreamed of a few months ago.”
