UPDATE:
All lanes of I-43 are back open after law enforcement arrested two teens in connection to several stolen vehicles in Manitowoc and Sheboygan, which resulted in a pursuit that ended around Belgium Monday evening.
Sheboygan Police say they got word just after 6 p.m. of shots fired around Union Avenue and South 15th Street. It was connected to a vehicle theft incident in Manitowoc as the suspects for that stolen vehicle tried to steal another vehicle on the city’s south side. The driver of the targeted vehicle was able to get away and avoid injuries after the suspects fired several gunshots.
The suspects were able to steal a vehicle on the city’s north side, on the 1300 block of North 15th Street, after a suspect pointed a firearm at a woman. The two stolen vehicles then left the city south on I-43, leading to a pursuit by law enforcement.
That pursuit ended around Belgium when spike strips were used to stop the vehicle stolen from Manitowoc. An alert was issued for people in the area to stay indoors as a law enforcement perimeter was established.
The all clear was given around 9 p.m. Two suspects, 17 and 16 year old males, were arrested.
Sheboygan Police add the vehicle stolen from their city remains missing. It is described as a 2015 Ford Edge, red in color with Wisconsin license plates 444-DSW.
Anyone with information about the theft is encouraged to call Sheboygan Police at 920-459-3333. Anonymous tips can be provided through Sheboygan Countywide Crime Stoppers at 877-283-8436 or online at cufthem.com.
