A homicide investigation is underway in Ozaukee County after a Cedarburg man was shot on I-43 near Saukville Friday evening.
The sheriff’s office says they were called to the northbound lanes of the interstate at Northwoods Road, which is just past the Highway 57 split, around 6:40 p.m. on October 30, 2020, for a pedestrian possibly hit by a vehicle.
When deputies arrived the found a deceased man, but determined the cause of death for the 41-year-old was by a shooting.
Their investigation determined there was minor contact between two vehicles, which resulted in the two drivers getting into an altercation. That led to the shooting along the side of the interstate.
The sheriff’s office believes the person responsible for the shooting got back into their vehicle, traveled north on I-43 to the County Highway H exit in Port Washington, then turned back southbound on I-43.
Anyone with information regarding the shooting, or were in the area around the time of the shooting and noticed something out of the ordinary, is asked to contact the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office at 262-284-7172.
