Former Vice President Joe Biden is this year’s ‘Donald Trump,’ says longtime WTMJ radio voice Charlie Sykes.
Much like the rest of the country, Sykes is watching the election is great interest.
“It’s insanity,” Sykes, founder and editor-at-large of The Bulwark told WTMJ’s Scott Warras. “We’ve never seen anything like this.”
But 2020 is not like 2016’s election cycle, according to Sykes.
“Donald Trump was the perfect man for (2016),” he explained. “Joe Biden is a very flawed candidate, but he’s ‘matching the moment’ the same way Pres. Trump ‘matched the moment’ four years ago.”
Sykes, who has always been #NeverTrump, believes the president’s campaign is often missing the correct messaging.
“Trump’s inability to maintain the message and capitalize on (the recent confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett, the Mid-East Peace deals, and the economy) is surprising.”
When will we have a winner?
“If Trump wins Florida and Georgia and Pensylvania is close, we may not know for weeks.”
