Dr. Deborah Birx, the response coordinator of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, visited Madison Friday afternoon to speak with state and local leaders, as well as those in healthcare, about the COVID-19 pandemic.
Her visit comes as Wisconsin continues to remain around record high levels for the Coronavirus. The Department of Health Services reported 4,378 new positive cases for October 23, 2020. 42 deaths were also reported.
Hospitalizations for COVID-19 also remain around record highs for the pandemic, hovering around 1,200 patients. The Alternate Care Facility at State Fair Park is taking care of two patients as of 11 a.m. Friday.
