One person is dead after an officer-involved shooting in South Milwaukee Monday afternoon.
Chief William Jessup say officers went to a home on Blake Avenue near 8th Avenue around 1 p.m. after a friend of a 43-year-old man called them to say the person of interest was making comments to take his own life.
When officers arrived, they found the man was armed with a handgun.
“He fired one round in the direction of officers,” says Jessup. “One officer returned fired with one round, striking that subject, and that subject is deceased. He is a 43-year-old man who lived in South Milwaukee. The officer has been on the department for 22 years.”
The officer who fired the shot will be placed on administrative leave as Greenfield Police lead an investigation into the shooting.
