As COVID-19 cases climb across Wisconsin, local companies aren’t slowing their efforts to keep up with the demand for face masks.
Rebel Converting, a Saukville-based manufacturer of hospital-grade disinfectant wipes, has been a key player in mask distribution locally.
“It is something we’re prepared to do as long as it’s still needed,” said Rebel Converting Owner Mike Kryshak. “Right now the demand for finished masks is still much higher than it is for people volunteering to make masks.”
Rebel Converting has served as a key partner in Mask Up MKE, an effort to get masks to those who need them most around Milwaukee.
They’ve pledged to donate enough material for 2.5 million masks. They’ve got about 120,000 masks left to make.
Despite the contributions so far, their work isn’t done.
“We’re evaluating right now if we should be making a lot more reusable masks,” Kryshak said. “We’re debating if our resources might be spent better doing something else to fight COVID. Whatever we do we’re going to be working on fighting COVID.”
