We had a little break but now the haze is back in Wisconsin due to the rampant wildfires burning on the West Coast.
U-W Madison’s Richard Keller is an expert on climate change and says the haze is likely the only effect Wisconsinites will see from the raging fires.
“As we see air quality, for example, improving in the West we are going to see more and more of that haze moving our way as the weather moves across the county,” Keller said.
The photographs and images coming out of California, Washington and Oregon seem unreal with daytime looking like night and ash falling from the skies.
Keller compares 2020’s wildfires with years past.
“The wildfires have really broken all records. One statistic that I read I found just absolutely baffling is that basically California’s five worst wildfires in history have happened since 2018,” said Keller.
