Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers will have members of the Wisconsin National Guard assisting fire departments and local law enforcement in Kenosha due to violent demonstrations following the shooting of Jacob Blake by a Kenosha Police officer.

125 guard members will take part in assisting police and firefighters Monday night. A curfew has been placed in effect until 8 p.m.

“Kenosha requested the assistance,” said the Governor. “They will continue to be there tonight in a situation where they are guarding infrastructure and making sure our firefighters and others that are involved are protected.”

Demonstrators used incendiary devices to start fires, damaging buildings and vehicles in parts of Kenosha late Sunday night and Monday morning. Graffiti was also sprayed on Kenosha municipal buildings.
