The number of COVID-19 tests analyzed in Wisconsin today were at a level not seen in over three months.
The Department of Health Services report 4,814 tests were analyzed for August 23, the first time since May 11 when this number was below 5,000. Over the past week only one of the seven days had testing surpassed 10,000.
453 of today’s tests came back positive, down from 950 on Saturday. The seven-day average for new daily cases declined to 674, the lowest this has been since July 11.
The overall trend in new daily cases and the decline in overall testing has continued to increase the seven-day average for the percentage of positive cases. Sunday’s rate of 8-percent is at a level not seen since early May.
Since the pandemic began, 70,462 COVID-19 tests have come back positive. 7,643 cases remain active. There have been 1,115,149 negative tests.
State health officials report no new deaths due to COVID-19 Sunday. That keeps the pandemic total at 1,081.
There are 333 people hospitalized with COVID-19 across Wisconsin. This number has stayed around this level for the past several weeks.
