WAUWATOSA — In light of the unrest and protesting outside of Wauwatosa Police Officer Joseph Mensah’s home, the Wauwatosa Police Union no longer has confidence, or feels support, from Mayor Dennis McBride and the city’s common council.
WPOA President John Milotzky shared information from a survey of its members. He says 70 of their 72 members responded to the survey earlier in August. Four questions related to the leadership of the city were posed to the officers.
All 70 officers responded that they do not feel that Mayor McBride supported them. Almost all of those officers, 69 of the 70, say they have no confidence in Mayor McBride’s leadership.
“These nearly unanimous responses do not bode well for a bright future for Wauwatosa,” Milotzky said. “The responses to the final questions do not indicate much hope in where this leadership is heading.”
81% of the officers who responded are now considering leaving the department over these issues.
