It’s possible that the Wisconsin State Fair has organized the world’s largest drive-thru restaurant with it’s “Fair Food Drive Thru.”
Fair fans who can’t enjoy a full Wisconsin State Fair can still find a two-mile long pathway around the Milwaukee Mile and the State Fair grounds to get all their favorite foods on a stick and more, including what you can see sampled above:
– Pretzel-wrapped bratwurst on a stick with cheese
– Deep-fried cookie dough on a stick
– Brownie waffle on a stick
– Garlic Parmesan soft pretzels
– Funnel cake
– Cheese curds
About 11,000 cars came through the drive thru last week for such cuisine.
The path covers approximately 0.75 square miles of territory. The world’s largest permanent drive-in restaurant, The Varsity in Atlanta, only covers 0.2 square miles.
“Nothing has ever been done like this in the history, really, of any fair, and certainly with our model,” State Fair CEO Kathleen O’Leary told WTMJ’s Wisconsin’s Morning News. “It’s a great way to start out. I hope we can keep it.”
The second week of Fair Food Drive Thru commences at 4 p.m. Thursday and runs through Sunday. Click here for hours and the menu.
