For the third time this week, Wisconsin has surpassed one-thousand new daily cases of COVID-19.
The state Department of Health Services says 1,018 tests came back positive Friday (July 24, 2020) out of 17,456 total. That reduced the percentage of new positive cases down to 5.8-percent.
While new cases Friday are lower than the number reported the previous day, it did increase the seven-day average for daily new cases in Wisconsin to a all-time record high of 916.
In total, there have been 46,917 positive cases of COVID-19 in the state since the pandemic began. 9,688 of them remain active. 795,280 tests have come back negative.
No new deaths due to COVID-19 were reported Friday, keeping that total at 878.
Hospitalizations for the virus statewide are at 312 patients.
