For the first time in six days Sunday, the daily number of new COVID-19 cases in Wisconsin dropped when compared to the previous day.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services report 769 new cases for July 12, which also ends a three-day streak of new record one-day highs.
Sunday’s number continued to increase the seven-day average for new cases to a record-high 696.
Labs processed 7,617 COVID-19 tests Sunday, a decline of nearly 40-percent when compared to Saturday. This increased the percentage of positive tests results to 10.1-percent.
Throughout the pandemic, 36,448 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the state, with 653,352 negative tests. 7,305 of the positive cases remain active.
820 people have died in Wisconsin due to complications with COVID-19.
Hospitalizations for the virus have increased over 10-percent since from the Fourth of July weekend. 264 people are currently in hospitals, with 74 in ICUs.
