One person is dead after a shooting outside the Milwaukee VA Medical Center Monday evening.
In a statement, the VA says it took place around 8:40 p.m. when a man approach the east entrance with a weapon.
VA police stopped the man and asked him to drop the weapon. The man reportedly did not comply and made threats with the weapon.
That is when police fired multiple shots and struck the man. He was taken inside to the Emergency Department for treatment and died from his injuries.
The VA says no one else was injured and there is no current threat to the safety of Veterans or employees.
Milwaukee Police are investigating.
