Hang on to those balloons! That’s the message from WE Energies after more than 1500 Milwaukee customers lost power last weekend when a Mylar balloon hit some power lines.
WE Energies says Mylar balloons in particular can act as conductors and cause short circuits.
The power company says you should never release balloons outside, never try to retrieve a balloon that’s become entangled in power lines and the best way to dispose of balloons is to deflate them before throwing them away.
