The State Department of Justice is investigating a police officer involved shooting in the city of Watertown Sunday night.
According to a release by the DOJ, officers were looking for the man to question him about his involvement in a possible domestic situation. Officers found the man driving a vehicle with a burnt-out taillight, at which point they pulled the vehicle.
Few details are outlined in the DOJ’s news release as to what transpired between officers pulling the vehicle over and an officer firing his service weapon.
The man was shot and taken to a hospital where he remains this morning; his condition is unknown at this time. The person in question is described only as a white male. A handgun was found at the scene.
The officers involved are on administrative leave while the Department of Justice conducts its investigation.
