A Burlington man is facing his possible 5th OWI offense after a single vehicle accident in the Village of Rochester May 23, 2020.
The Racine County Sheriff’s Office says they got word of the accident around 8:37 p.m. on the 33800 block of Washington Avenue, also known as County Highway D.
When deputies arrived they found a 2004 Porsche Cayenne SUV severely damaged in several trees off the roadway.
The 41-year-old driver was found outside the vehicle, and was taken to Summit Hospital in Oconomowoc for treatment of his injuries. He was also arrested for a possible OWI after displaying what deputies described as obvious signs of impairment.
An investigation determined the vehicle was traveling west on Washington Avenue at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway, drove into a ditch and struck a mailbox, then struck a culvert and became airborne.
The Porsche was estimated to travel about 93 feet in the air when it struck the trees 15 feet off the ground.
The investigation is ongoing, with speed and alcohol likely factors in the crash.
