Several inches of rainfall across southeast Wisconsin Sunday is leading to flooding issues along several rivers and counties.
A Flood Warning is in effect until 5:15 a.m. Monday (May 18, 2020) for Sheboygan, Ozaukee and Milwaukee counties. Locations such as Cedar Grove, Belgium and Fredonia have seen five to six inches of rainfall.
Sheboygan has seen around four inches, with law enforcement reporting a number of basements in the City of Sheboygan having water, along with flooding of numerous roads in low-lying areas.
As for flood warnings involving rivers, they include:
- The Fox River near New Munster, where moderate flooding is forecast. A crest of 13.9-feet is expected early Wednesday morning that can caused flooding at homes in Salem Lakes and Town of Wheatland.
- The Fox River in Waukesha, where minor flooding is forecast. A crest of 6.9-feet is expected Monday afternoon that can cause water to reach near homes in Bethesda Court and Frame Park.
- The Fox River in Burlington, where minor flooding is forecast. A crest of 11.9-feet is expected Tuesday morning that can cause water to enter Riverside Park, and the parking lot at Veteran’s Terrace.
- The Root River in Raymond, where minor flooding is forecast. A crest of 10.9-feet is expected Monday morning that can caused flooding in backyards and farm fields.
- The Root River in Franklin, where minor flooding is forecast. A crest of 8.3-feet is expected Monday morning that can cause flooding in farm fields.
- The Oak Creek in South Milwaukee, where minor flooding is occurring. If it continues, it will flood lowlands and wooded areas.
- The Milwaukee River in Milwaukee, where minor flooding is occurring. If it continues it could impact locations along Port Washington Road such as the Hilton Hotel.
- The Sheboygan River in Sheboygan, where minor flooding is forecast. A crest of 9.3-feet is expected Monday that can flood several parks in Sheboygan and Sheboygan Falls and nearby roadways.
There are also concerns for flooding along the Lake Michigan shoreline. The National Weather Service has a Lakeshore Flood Advisory in place until 7 p.m. Monday. High waves due to strong winds off the lake could push water onto nearby roadways, causing flooding.
