This week’s recipe is from Marge Pelkey from Van Dyne, Wisconsin. It’s a very simple beer bread recipe.
I can’t tell you how many homemade bread photos I’ve seen on social media since the ‘safer at home’ order took effect.
If I’m being completely honest with you, I’ve never taken the time to make bread from scratch… ever.
This recipe has changed the idea I had floating in my head that making bread took several hours of watching the dough rise, utilizing a special bread maker, etc. This took no time at all and it’s delicious.
Enjoy and keep the recipes coming! Thanks again for the recipe, Marge.
Best,
Melissa
Beer Bread:
Ingredients:
-3 cups of self rising flour
-1/2 cup sugar
-12 oz. beer (I used a lager but you could use any type you like depending on the flavor you prefer)
Directions:
-Preheat the oven at 350 degrees
-Mix the ingredients together.
-Put the dough in a greased bread pan (Pam cooking spray works just fine)
-Pour 3 tablespoons of melted butter over the dough
-Sprinkle with a small amount of sugar.
-Bake for 1 hour (check after 50 minutes depending on how your oven heats)
Enjoy!
