WAUKESHA- An officer involved shooting early this (Wednesday) morning outside Waukesha Memorial Hospital leaves a man dead.
According to a written release by the Waukesha Police Department, officers observed a male suspect armed with what appeared to be a handgun in the hospital’s parking lot around 1:30 this morning. After verbally making contact with the suspect, officers say he pointed his gun at them, at which point they returned fire.
Lifesaving measures were performed on the suspect, but he died at the scene. A handgun was recovered after the shooting.
The involved officers’ experience ranges from three to twelve years on the Police Department. No officers or other personnel were injured during this incident.
The Milwaukee Area Investigative Team, with the City of Wauwatosa Police Department as the Lead Agency, is conducting the investigation.
