MILWAUKEE- A craft distillery in Milwaukee is branching out from making spirits to drink, to making spirits to clean with.
Central Standard Craft Distillery co-founder Evan Hughes says last week the decision was made by their leadership team to turn some of their high proof alcohol into lab-approved disinfectant spray.
Hughes tells WTMJ the decision to make about one-thousand bottles wasn’t a difficult one.
“We were sitting at home watching the news like everybody else and saw people hording sanitizer and disinfectant spray and were hearing from those in the community that it was difficult to come by those things so that’s when the decision was made to do this,” Hughes said.
He says the initial batch of bottles is meant to go to places like not-for-profits and community centers that may soon run out of household cleaners as coronavirus-related isolation stretches from days to weeks.
