It’s a harsh reality, student-athletes have to face.
The WIAA already ended the state high school basketball tournaments because of coronavirus, and now athletes in spring sports are left wondering about their fate.
On Tuesday Governor Evers extended the closure of all public and private K-12 schools indefinitely amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“They’ve basically cancelled our indoor season, which would be through about April 6th,” said varsity boys track coach at Kettle Moraine High School Kevin Yarbrough.
Should they eventually get clearance, Yarbrough says his staff is doing the best they can to keep their kids ready.
“I’ve got coaches making videos to send out to the kids for instructional purposes and things like that,” he said. “My staff is doing a really great job of trying to stay on top of the training as much as they can, and give the kids the best tools they can use so that if we do get a season resumed, we can start to pick up where we left off.”
