Amtrak is disinfecting Union Station in Chicago and its station in St. Louis after a passenger who traveled between the cities tested positive for coronavirus.
The national passenger train service said in a statement that a passenger had the “presumptive positive” test. They say they are attempting to gather and share information with any passengers and employees “who might be affected” and are “notifying passengers and employees who may have been on the same train.”
KSHB-TV says that the woman is from St. Louis County in Missouri, and she had traveled recently to Italy – a nation which has seen some of the worst of the coronavirus pandemic.
The company says it is giving that specific train “comprehensive cleaning and disinfection,” while giving the same to its stations in Chicago and St. Louis.
14 different Amtrak Hiawatha trains run between Milwaukee and Chicago (seven in each direction), as does the daily westbound and eastbound Empire Builder train – for a total of 16 trains between the cities.
