No arm twisting involved here. It’s just another good reason to enjoy a cold brew this weekend in Milwaukee.
On Sunday, you can support women beer professionals during an all day event at Black Husky Brewing in Riverwest.
The first annual Pink Boots Collaboration Brew Day goes from 8am-8pm.
The collaboration involves other Riverwest Brewing Syndicate breweries including Company Brewing, Gathering Place Brewing Company, Lakefront Brewery.
Co-owner of Black Husky Brewing Toni Eichinger says despite the number of women in the beer industry being low, there are plenty of opportunities to be had.
“There’s sales, marketing, brewers, quality control, just like any other type of business,” said Eichinger.
Sunday’s event celebrates women in the brewing industry and because it’s International Women’s Day as well, they will be highlighting other locally owned businesses by women including food provided by Nessun Dorma, Honey Pie, Lumpia City, Fox Fire, Addicting Pretzels, and Lush Popcorn.
“We are also collecting donations from local non-profits including personal hygiene products for the homeless and those in shelters. We’ll also be accepting prom clothes for J.A. Love Project’s Fostering Memories program which provides formal wear to kids in foster care,” Eichinger said.
Women from breweries across the state will be attending this event.
There will also be a special pale ale brewed on Sunday titled “Yes, She Can.” It will be available to the public April 4th during the release party.
All proceeds from the beer go towards Pink Boots Society.
