A long-term underground sewer project will impact one of Milwaukee’s busiest intersections on its north side.
The Milwaukee Department of Public Works says it will take place on North 27th Street between West Fond du Lac avenue and West Center Street. This portion of the street will be closed off to traffic starting Monday, February 3, 2020.
Preliminary work has blocked any left turns on Fond du Lac to Center. That will change when the road closure starts with a temporary left turn arrow being installed at this intersection.
Also, the Milwaukee County Transit System’s Purple Line route is being impacted by this project. More information on that can be found here.
The DPW says to expect extra congestion and plan for more time when traveling in this area, since there will be signed detours and changes to stop-and-go light timing.
Work is scheduled to be completed by early July.
