Milwaukee Police had a busy Friday evening as they responded to a hit-and-run accident and two non-fatal shootings within a five minute period.
The hit-and-run took place around 5:43 p.m. near the intersection of 46th and Burleigh. A 57-year-old Milwaukee man was walking across the street when he was struck by a white Cadillac Deville traveling east. The victim suffered head trauma and other non-life threatening injuries. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
As the Cadillac left the scene, a witness to the accident followed the vehicle and called police. Officers were able to stop the Cadillac and arrest the 50-year-old man driving it. He is in custody for hit-and-run and driving a vehicle while intoxicated.
The first shooting police responded to happened at 5:41 p.m. on the 2600 block of North 39th Street. An 18-year-old Milwaukee man was inside a home when the suspect or suspects fired shots from outside into the home. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound.
The second shooting happened at 5:46 p.m. on the 5600 block of North Green Bay Avenue, injuring a 28-year-old Milwaukee man. Police determining the victim was driving his vehicle when a blue four-door vehicle cut him off. When he pulled up next to the vehicle to exchange words with the African-American male suspect, the suspect produced a dark handgun and began firing it in the direction of the victim. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injury.
