The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the deputy involved in a fatal accident from January 25, 2020.
50-year-old Deputy Sheriff Joel Streicher was on-duty in an unmarked squad vehicle with his canine partner when it collided with another vehicle at the intersection of North 10th Street and West State Street around 11:15 a.m.
Streicher has been with the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office for 23 years. He was treated and released from a hospital following the crash. He has been on paid administrative leave since, as is standard protocol.
The accident killed 47-year-old Ceasar Stinson, a lobbyist for Milwaukee Public Schools and community leader. In a statement, MPS Superintendent Keith Posey says “Ceasar was a very intelligent and thoughtful individual who was a strong team member. He was passionate about young people in the district as well as in the community. His death is a great loss to Milwaukee Public Schools and also the entire city of Milwaukee.”
Milwaukee Police continue to investigate the accident.
