The busts of Brett Favre and Jordy Nelson will find themselves on Vel R. Phillips Avenue in downtown Milwaukee in the coming months.
The Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame will be inducting both Favre and Nelson in a ceremony in Madison on June 5.
Their busts will join 143 others outside UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena on Phillips and West Kilbourn Avenue downtown, where the royalty of Wisconsin sports is enshrined.
Favre re-wrote much of the NFL passing record book from 1992-2007 while with the Packers. In that time, he produced:
– One Super Bowl championship (1996)
– Two Super Bowl appearances (1996-97)
– Three NFL MVP’s (1995-97)
– NFL career records for consecutive starts, wins for a quarterback, passes thrown, passes caught, passing yardage and touchdown passes (oh yeah, interceptions, too)
– 40 victories where he helped the Packers overcome a fourth quarter deficit or a tie in the 4th quarter or overtime
Nelson’s resume, though not NFL record-setting, is also among the greatest to ever play the position in Green Bay:
– One Super Bowl championship
– NFL Comeback Player of the Year (2016)
– Team top 3’s
– 1st for most receiving yards in one season (1,519 in 2014)
– 2nd for most career touchdown receptions (69)
– 2nd for most games with 100-plus receiving yards in one season (7, 2014)
– 3rd for most career receptions (550)
