This Sunday, November 10, Petty Officer Vincent A. Wiersema will sing the National Anthem at Lambeau Field.
Sunday’s game versus the Carolina Panthers will be the Salute to Service game, honoring Veterans for their service.
Originally from Idaho and stationed in Great Lakes, Illinois, this will be Officer Wiersema’s first time at Lambeau Field. “It will be really cool to go to a stadium as iconic as Lambeau Field”, he stated.
“(I am) very excited. This is one of the biggest opportunities I’ve had”, Wisersema said.
Officer Wiersema had the opportunity to sing with Big and Rich in 2015, and has previously sung the National Anthem at various venues when he was stationed in New Jersey. “I think all those experiences up to this point will give me the confidence”.
Officer Wiersema is looking forward to more than just singing the National Anthem.
“I think it’s awesome that they’re able to honor the Veterans, and do something like this. It just makes me feel even more special for the opportunity to do something like this. I know at the Navy Recruiting District in Chicago, where I work, we’re always trying to get the public to see us in uniform, that way we can raise Navy awareness and things of that nature”.
