Milwaukee County prosecutors have charged a Greenfield man with first-degree intentional homicide for a random stabbing attack on August 27, 2019.
The criminal complaint against 19-year-old Amando Lang states Greenfield Police were called to the area of South 60th Street and West Armour Avenue around noon for a man stabbed in the neck.
Officers found Ben Christianson, who was taking soil samples, with a large cut to one side of his neck. Efforts by a witness and emergency crews to treat the injury were unsuccessful, as Christianson died at Froedtert Hospital.
The witness told investigators she and her brother saw the suspect approach Christianson, make what appeared to be an overhead punching motion, then saw Christianson collapse. The suspect then fled the scene.
The description of the suspect led Greenfield Police to arrest Lang at his home a short time later.
When interviewed, Lang reportedly provided a rambling response to why he committed the stabbing. In essence, he believed Christianson was a criminal who was going to murder him and his family. Lang felt that he needed to use a knife to put away the threat, and claimed he is an FBI cop.
Lang’s mother was interviewed. She told investigators that she heard her son say “I had to kill that man, mom.” She told TODAY’S TMJ4 her son is autistic, had previous anger problems, and believed he stopped taking his medication.
