Security plans are ramping up ahead of the 2020 Democratic National Convention in Milwaukee.
Sheriffs from all 72 of Wisconsin’s counties are in Milwaukee this week for the Badger State Sheriffs’ Association’s media and information management training conference. They’ll also be discussing plans for the 2020 DNC.
“We’re in the early stages of planning,” said Milwaukee County Sheriff Earnell Lucas. “The Secret Service and all of our federal, state and local partners are beginning to meet in a number of areas.”
Sheriff Lucas tells WTMJ there are 27 different groups that are meeting independently on safety plans.
“This event carries the full force of the United States government,” Sheriff Lucas said. “There will be a lot more coordination, collaboration than anything I’ve ever participated in.”
