A Milwaukee father is being charged in the death of his 5-year-old son last weekend after fatally beating him for eating his Father’s Day cake.
Travis Stackhouse, 29, is being charged with first degree reckless homicide.
Milwaukee Police were called Saturday to 26th and Rube Ave. just before 3 a.m. for a report of a sick or injured child.
According to the criminal complaint, Stackhouse originally told investigators the boy fell down the stairs, but officers said the victim’s injuries weren’t consistent with a fall.
An autopsy revealed the boy died of blunt force trauma.
After interviewing the victim’s older brother, the child told police he saw Stackhouse hit the 5-year-od.
The complaint says Stackhouse eventually admitted to punching the child in the stomach and back, and then slapped the child across the face. Stackhouse also admitted to having a rod in his right hand, knowing the extra damage it could cause.
Stackhouse told investigators he was mad at his children for eating his Father’s Day cake.
He faces up to 60 years in prison.
