Valerie Lighthart is ready to make her debut on the biggest stage any up and coming Milwaukee music artist can ask to be on: Summerfest.
“I’m really terrified because this is the biggest gig that I’ve done so far, and I’ve only been performing for about a year. It’s really amazing to be stepping on this stage at this point in my career, but nonetheless it’s also very exciting,” said Valerie.
Valerie, who is from Milwaukee, has been attending Summerfest since her teen years.
“It’s really nice because I’m going to be performing on the same stage I watched some of my favorite artists perform on,” she said.
With influences ranging from Joni Mitchell and Hozier to 1960’s pop music, Valerie has shown a love for folk and acoustic elements and the catchy movements of the pop genre. Valerie wants to innovate the folk-pop sound by using the music to introduce a new brand of long-form story telling.
Valerie is set to perform on July 3 at 3:00 p.m. at the Johnson Controls World Stage.
