Prosecutors have charged a man from Milwaukee with child neglect resulting in death after a 5-year-old boy found a gun and shot himself June 18.
Police were called to 45th and Concordia for a report of a child shooting victim.
According to the criminal complaint, Michael Moore admitted to leaving a loaded gun on a living room shelf. He told investigators the child could have accessed the gun by climbing on the couch directly underneath the shelf.
Moore also admitted to having a lock and gun case for the weapon, but did not use it that night.
The complaint also indicates that Moore does not have a concealed carry permit, nor has he applied for one.
Moore made his first court appearance Sunday. A cash bond was set at $5,0000.
