After 13 years in its original location of Milwaukee Street, Cubanitas’ Cuban Day Street Festival makes a move to a new location.
Oak Creek’s Drexel Town Square will host this year’s festivities, right outside of Cubanitas’ second location.
Marta Bianchini, owner of Cubanitas Cuban restaurant says, “It started off with a band, inside Cubanitas with about 50 Cubans and friends and basically spilling out into the streets.”
It has now grown into an event with a few thousand attending. It’s grown so much that they are now moving to Oak Creek’s Drexel Town Square, right outside their second location.
Bianchini explains, “We decided let’s go down to Oak Creek. They have the infrastructure there, we’re gonna get people from northern Illinois, Kenosha, Milwaukee. It’s a center point for everything and I think it’s going to be fabulous.”
With your free admission, you can enjoy live band performances from Salsa Power, Clave y Afinque and Nabori as well as dance lessons and demonstrations from Salsabrositas.
Various Cuban cuisine options ranging from black beans and rice to the famous Cuban sandwiches and Mojitos round out the offerings at this annual event.
Cubanitas Cuban Day Street Festival: Sunday June 23rd, 2019, 12 Noon to 7 PM, Oak Creek’s Drexel Town Square.
