New details have emerged about the crash that killed Milwaukee Police Officer Kou Her.
Witnesses told Milwaukee Police that the suspect involved fled the scene on foot after striking Officer Her’s personal vehicle. Those witnesses then helped give information that led to the arrest of the suspect, who is 34 years old.
Her was 27 years old.
Update: 9:06 a.m.
“Because of a person running a red light, he is no longer with us,” said Mayor Tom Barrett about the death of Kou Her, a Milwaukee Police officer killed by an allegedly drunk driver.

An off-duty Milwaukee Police Officer was involved in a fatal accident at about 1:35 a.m. Tuesday.
Kou Her was on his way home from work when he was hit near 60th and Capitol.
Chief Alfonso Morales says the suspect was allegedly drunk, speeding and blew a red light when he hit the officer.
Officer Her was a two-year veteran of the police department. He is survived by his wife.
The suspect is in custody.
