The Milwaukee Police Department says that a man faces four felonies after he allegedly shot at officers during an incident on Saturday.
According to a criminal complaint attached to an MPD social media post, Javon Lewis faces charges including:
– Two counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide (use of a dangerous weapon)
– One count of strangulation and suffocation (use of a dangerous weapon)
– One count of possession of a firearm (previous felony conviction)
– One count of misdemeanor battery (use of a dangerous weapon)
If he is convicted on all five counts, he could face up to 136 years and nine months in prison.
The criminal complaint shared on MPD’s social media says the incident happened on the block just south of Congress Street on North 84th Street in Milwaukee.
According to the complaint, police responded to a request from that area, came upon a man and woman, and approached the man. He reportedly claimed he was a neighbor, but then ran away from police.
Police say he then took out a pistol and shot at officers. The report says an officer responded and struck Lewis in the shoulder. Police were then able to detain him.
A witness said that Lewis attempted to choke someone until they started passing out, and that both people “needed to move before he shot both.”
