Update: 9:11 a.m.
A We Energies spokesperson said that a mylar balloon led to the power outage.
The company warns people not to release those balloons because the metal in those balloons can cause an outage when it comes in contact with a power line.
Update 8:45 p.m.
WE Energies crews have restored power to much of the affected area.
There are still some minor outages affecting over 400 customers.

Thousands of We Energies customers in the Milwaukee area lost power on Tuesday evening.
As of 6:30 p.m., more than 4,300 customers in the city of Milwaukee went through a power outage.
WTMJ has reached out to We Energies for information on the cause and their efforts to restore power.
