Milwaukee Police say that an officer has shot and killed a suspect in a shooting on the city’s south side.
MPD says that the shooting happened Tuesday morning near the corner of South 7th and West Maple Streets.
Police Chief Alfonso Morales says that two suspects came up to a police vehicle during an investigation into a diferent murder case and an altercation happened, leading to the shooting. One of them was armed with their face concealed, and that suspect was shot and killed after officers believed they were going to be robbed. Another suspect was arrested.
Two officers were involved, a 20-year veteran who is 40 years old and a 36-year-old with 12 years on the job. A third officer apprehended the second suspect after the chase. That officer is 51 years old and has 27 years of experience.
No officer was injured as of initial reports.
Victor Cintron is wanted for another murder, and police were searching for him in what they believe to e a nearby residence when the incident happened.
