The City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works will be launching its annual Clean & Green project for 2019 starting May 6.
The project gives city residents their one chance every year to place bulky items that are larger than one cubic yard out with their regular garbage pickup at no charge. Typically, it will cost between $50 and $150 to collect such items.
In addition, residents can place yard and garden waste, tree trimmings, leaves (no bigger than two cubic yards) and up to five tires for pickup. Grass clipping must be placed in brown paper yard waste bags.
The project will not accept appliances, TVs, and other electronics, construction debris, paint, paint thinners, motor oil and other hazardous waste since they need special disposal procedures.
The city has been split up into seven sections. Each section will have their special pickup taking place throughout their regular garbage pickup for that week.
