Plan for more road work in the City of Milwaukee starting April 29, 2019.
One project will only impact travel for this week as the Department of Public Works will be working on a high impact paving project on West Center Street between North 60th and North 75th streets.
Day one of the project will have a construction crew removing the existing pavement between 60th and 68th streets. Day two will have the new asphalt laid down. Day three will have both parts of the project completed on the same day between 68th and 75th.
Work will begin at 7 a.m. every day, with no thru traffic being allowed. Traffic will resume in the evening after work for the day is done.
The other project will be a long-term reconstruction project of North Teutonia Avenue between West Garfield and West Groeling avenues. Work will be removing the current pavement and replacing it with a new concrete pavement, curb, gutters and driveway approaches. There will also be curb bump outs and medians, new sidewalks and curb ramps, and new street and traffic lights.
When completed, this stretch of Teutonia will have one driving lane, one bicycle lane and one parking lane in each direction.
Work will begin in the southbound lane, meaning traffic will be moved onto the northbound lane with one going in each director. Side street access will not be allowed to the west of Teutonia.
One the southbound lane is complete, the northbound lane will be closed for reconstruction with traffic moving to the southbound lane. Side street access east of Teutonia will not be allowed.
Throughout the project, there will be no street parking on Teutonia in the construction zone, and intersections at North, Locust and Center will remain open. Bus routes that use the street will be altered.
Milwaukee DPW expect works on Teutonia to be completed in August.
