We Energies crews have repaired a gas main break that led to the temporary evacuation of numerous buildings in the Froedtert Hospital area.
Amy Jahns, a spokesperson for We Energies, says that the gas main was disrupted just before 8 a.m.
“We responded to the scene, and just a short time after we were able to stop that flow of gas, fire and police did arrive on scene and did make some evacuations to some buildings in that area,” Jahns told WTMJ’s Jane Matenaer.
“It was a 30 minute situation. It was a very quick situation, resolved very quickly.”
Jahns explained that based on initial information, they believe excavation work was happening where the gas main was struck.
She said all evacuations have ended and people have been able to return to their normal buildings.
However, as of 10 a.m. Wednesday, not all service had returned to the area.
“There are some customers, some buildings that will be without natural gas as we make repairs,” Jahns said.
“Beyond that, everything will be business as usual.”
